Congratulations to the nine College of Science and Mathematics Outstanding Graduating Student Award recipients! The students and their faculty mentors were honored on Saturday, April 28. The College's 2017-2018 student recipients are Omar Ugarte Trejo, M.S. in Chemical Sciences; Kevin Patel, B.S. in Biochemistry; Reagan Hooper, B.S. in Chemistry; James Thornhill, M.S. in Integrative Biology; Rebecca Webster, B.S. in Environmental Science; Lee Spence, B.S. in Mathematics; David Axford, B.S. in Biology; Matthew Forslund, B.S. in Physics; and Jonathan Boardman, M.S. in Applied Statistics. Each year, department faculty in the College of Science and Mathematics choose one outstanding graduating student per academic degree program. Outstanding students are selected based on notable achievements within their major, including having earned an exceptional GPA, as well as in extracurricular, research or professional activities.

More than 150 students of the Georgia State University College of Law were recognized for their achievements during the college's Honors Day celebrations this spring.

More than 300 undergraduate students presented their research at the Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference (GSURC) on Thursday, April 12. Students from a wide variety of disciplines shared their findings through oral presentations, posters, artistic displays and musical performances.

Kennesaw State University is being represented by nearly 100 students this week at the 2018 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) in Edmond, Oklahoma. More than 4,000 students from 400 colleges and universities are presenting their research April 4-7 at the prestigious annual conference. With 93 students attending, Kennesaw State's number of participants is second only to the host institution, the University of Central Oklahoma.

Oglethorpe University congratulates the following undergraduates named to the Fall 2017 Dean's List honoring students who achieved at least a 3.50 term grade-point average while earning 12 or more semester hours.

Dean's List honors are earned by undergraduate students who carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on the 4.0 scale.

The following area residents were among approximately 450 students who graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University during the Fall 2017 Commencement Ceremony held on Friday, Dec. 8 in Convocation Hall of the Student Success Center.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized approximately 2,900 students for excellence in academics on the Fall 2017 Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Kennesaw State University recently welcomed its newest class of graduates. Nearly 2,300 students earned bachelor's, master's or doctoral degrees during Fall 2017 commencement ceremonies in December.

A total of 12,594 students enrolled during the 2017 fall semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

One-hundred and fifty one Georgia State College of Law students received scholarships for the 2017-18 academic year.

Kennesaw State University recently named students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Fall 2017 semester. The Kennesaw State students were honored by President Sam Olens for earning top marks.

University of North Georgia President Bonita Jacobs recognizes students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the fall 2017 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

The deans of each of UNG's five colleges - the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics - announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for fall 2017. Dean's List recognition is achieved by having at least a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

The following local residents made the Fall 2017 Academic Achievement List at Georgia Southwestern State University and were among 600 students recognized for scholastic achievement.

Students in Kennesaw State's College of Computing and Software Engineering recently demonstrated their talent, creativity and ability to put what they've learned in the classroom into practice during the biannual Computing Showcase, also called C-Day. The culminating event, presented at the end of the fall semester, attracted dozens of student projects which were then judged by 18 industry professionals in five categories. Graduating students displayed their posters, video games and prototypes that highlighted their experiences within internships, team projects, research endeavors, and capstone and thesis work. More than 40 undergraduate and graduate students were honored with first, second and third place honors in five categories. Eight Kennesaw State students were honored recently for their scholarship and research at the 2017 STEM Innovators Conference in Atlanta, hosted by the University. The 12th annual symposium and research conference recognized outstanding Peach State Louis Stokes Alliance Minority Participation (LSAMP) Scholars.

To be eligible for the Dean's List during the summer semester, degree-seeking students with a minimum Georgia State cumulative GPA of 2.00 must earn a 3.50 GPA for the semester and complete at least 6 semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

To be eligible for the President's List during the summer semester, students must earn a 4.0 GPA for the semester and complete at least 6 semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

The Honors College Ambassadors corps is composed of a diverse and dedicated group of outstanding Honors College students who desire to hone their leadership skills, while also contributing to the Honors College legacy.
